A family fun day at Springvale Stadium was well attended on Saturday and organisers said safety messages were well received alongside the activities.
Safekids Aotearoa, Fire and Emergency New Zealand, Civil Defence, Public Health, Police and Sport Whanganui were represented at the event which ran from 10am until 2pm.
Fire and Emergency New Zealand provided virtual reality glasses so people could see what it is like in a fire, police provided a display focused on preventing accidents in home driveways and Sport Whanganui provided bikes for people to have a go at the Springvale Bike Park.
"We invited whānau to visit the Safekids Aotearoa whare, to touch, experience, have a conversation and take away important lessons on what they can do to prevent children from being seriously injured in their own homes," Safer Whanganui manager Lauren Tamehana said.
