Ruapehu business leaders say they are about to form a business council to help support and inspire local business owners.
Ruapehu Mayor Don Cameron welcomed the council's establishment and said that it would help play a key role in helping established businesses to grow and new businesses to set up and succeed.
"Council's efforts to increase jobs, incomes and opportunities for Ruapehu communities has highlighted the critical importance of having the right advice, support and connections," Cameron said.
Council will not have a role to play in the business council's ongoing operation.
"The Ruapehu District Business Council will be a completely separate organisation from Ruapehu District Council and will be independently run."
