For the third consecutive month, rough weather conditions on the Whanganui River saw the 2017 Winter Series moved from the second Sunday to the third, but that didn't slow down Aramoho Whanganui Rowing Club's veteran Trevor Rush.
After winning the August race with 65+ Masters Double Scull partner Richard Brock, this time Rush went it alone in the MHM1x craft, among 26 various boat types and crews who recorded finishing times among the original 30-odd entries on Sunday morning.
Rush completed the course in 25m 46s, an impressive 95.15 per cent of the prognostic time for his grade.
Fellow AWRC club members Jonty Thomson and Levi Carroll were second in their Boys Under 18 lightweight craft, as their 22m 8s time was 93.37 per cent of prognostic.
Union Boat Club's Pat Carroll continued his consistency in the series with a narrow third place, as his 23m 52s time was good enough for 93.08 per cent prognostic in the MDM1x boat.
