Whanganui music fans are in for a night of blues and banter when the Two Bluesy Blondes hit town this weekend.
While their collective name is new, musicians Erna Ferry and Julie Lamb will be familiar to many and the pair will be fronting their new band at the Wanganui Sailing Club on Saturday, the last stop on their inaugural tour.
Jazz and blues singer Ferry has an extensive background in musical performance, having played leading jazz festivals throughout New Zealand, winning the Wellington Jazz Quest and supporting American vocal star Al Jarreau. She has four albums in her catalogue including this year's Wild About You.
Lamb, a director, promoter and award-winning musician, had her latest album debut at number 10 on the New Zealand Music Charts.
She said the duo formed over a lunch and a discussion about both wanting to rediscover the blues.
