Over 1000 people gathered at Bason Reserve for The Big Easter Egg Hunt on Saturday.
"There were a few showers during the day but that didn't stop the fun," said organiser Cavina Skilton-Brignall.
Rapanui-Brunswick Playcentre hosted the event and each ticket purchased entitled a child to search out five painted rocks hidden around the reserve.
"They got to keep their two favourites and the rest were exchanged for easter eggs," said Mrs Skilton-Brignall.
"There have been quite a few dinners eaten on the floor during the past few weeks as playcentre mums turned their kitchen tables in to rock painting stations."
