Several roads in and around Wanganui are in for a summer spruce-up.
New Zealand Transport Agency regional journey manager Delany Myers said the work would happen over the next few months.
"We do this work in sections to ensure the work is evenly spaced out and doesn't cause too much disruption at once," Mr Myers said.
"Pot holes, cracked roads and slippery surfaces that have lost their skid resistance can increase the risk of crashes and injuries. Resurfacing the roads makes them good as new again by restoring the properties that make them safe to drive on, such as friction."
He said the aim was to cause as little disruption as possible.
