Dining out can help those in need. For a week from June 17, Tandoori Bite will donate 10 per cent of its takings to the Red Cross appeal for Nepal.
April's magnitude 7.8 earthquake killed thousands of people and left much of the country devastated.
"It's quite bad for the people there and they need the help," Balwinder said. She said they had donated personally but this was another way the Guyton st restaurant could help out. "We're expecting a good amount but we haven't got any figure in mind."
Red Cross Humanitarian services manager Sonja de Lange said the charity had raised $2.4 million for Nepal. She said business appeals such as Tandoori Bite's was of great financial help. "As soon as we announce an appeal we find a lot of people coming forward from the community."
There will be collection buckets in-store for further donations.
