The Palmerston North Rescue Helicopter flew four missions and conducted training and promotional sorties over the past week.
On February 22 the crew conducted a Night Vision Goggle training sortie.
On February 24 an afternoon callout to Waiouru military Camp was needed to help a woman in her 20s requiring urgent hospital maternity care.
On Friday the crew flew to Ruatiti, north of Raetihi, for an elderly local woman suffering a serious medical event. She was airlifted to Whanganui Hospital. Later that day an elderly Greytown woman on the northbound Northerner Explorer near Tangiwai suffered a serious medical event. The train was met by a road ambulance and the patient offloaded to await the arrival of the rescue helicopter and then airlifted to Palmerston North Hospital.
On Saturday an afternoon mission was flown to help police search for a missing elderly Palmerston North woman. On Sunday the rescue helicopter service was part of a promotional event.
