A steel reservoir for the new Ratana water supply has been moved on site.

The final design of the plant is still underway but Filtec, the engineers, have completed testing.

Meanwhile, ID Loader staff have been laying pipe from Ratana to the treatment plant but heavy rain has slowed the process.

The council has also been granted resource consent to take water from a new bore which allows for an increased take during the Ratana festival.

The treatment plant and the new supply for the settlement is expected to be flowing by December. Ratana's new water supply will bring it in line with New Zealand drinking water standards.

The project is 85 per cent funded by the Ministry of Health with a million-dollar grant . and will allow the village to cater for water demand of up to 300cu m a day.
