A collection of never before seen drawings by the late Joan Grehan is currently on display at the WHMilbank Gallery.
Ms Grehan was originally from Wanganui but lived abroad for 35 years, making her home in Australia, Europe, Africa and the Middle East. She eventually returned to New Zealand but died unexpectedly in 2007.
WHMilbank Gallery owner Bill Milbank said Ms Grehan was known as a painter but she was also a prolific drawer.
"Some of these drawings became source work for paintings, but mostly they stand alone as moments and sights captured with deft skill. These drawings are immediate and pure in their purpose and style," Mr Milbank said.
The drawings come from Ms Grehan's estate and all are for sale. Prices vary but most unsigned drawings are selling for $100, while signed ones are $150. The exhibition is open till December 7.
