Multiple Whanganui women's open winner Tara Raj has finished her debut Jennian Homes Charles Tour 12 shots off the winner in fourth.
The Year 10 Wanganui Collegiate student had rounds of 80, 76, 77 and 76 for a total of 309 in her first appearance on the tour in the Augusta Funds Management Women's Ngamotu Classic presented by PipeTech in New Plymouth.
Papakura golfer Caryn Khoo broke through to win her first event of the tour by a convincing three-shot margin over Carmen Lim (Windross Farm, South Auckland) in what was a small field of just eight women.
The Aucklander carded rounds of 74, 72, 75 and 76 in challenging conditions all week to prove her class.
While her nearest rival, NZ No 12 Rose Zheng, quickly dropped off the pace, Lim had other ideas and mounted a final round charge to give Khoo something to think about.
