Harry Potter mingled with Alice In Wonderland and Pippi Longstocking in the classrooms of St George's School on Friday.
The school finished term three with a book day, where the children came to school dressed as their favourite book character. The staff had a theme of their own, coming to school dressed as pirates.
St George's literacy leader Jacoba Glenny said it was the finale to a week of book-themed activities.
"We've had a book fair, which has been going all week, and visiting authors and illustrators. We've also come to the end of our winter reading challenge, where the students set themselves goals for how much they'll read over the winter."
Ms Glenny said the dress-up day had proven popular with the students.
