The sign on Marton Junction School principal Vanessa Te Ua's door says they have big dreams being put into motion.
And there's plenty for the school and community to look forward to this year with its theme of saving the environment.
There are four classes at the school and a roll of 73. One is a total immersion Maori class of 25 students from Year-1 to Year-8,
All students started the year wearing the new yellow polo shirt and black skirt or shorts school uniform. Ms Te Ua said this is changing the culture and giving the students pride in their school. All parents were surveyed last year, and with cost being a factor, Ms Te Ua looked at options that made the uniform affordable.
As well at the school, 30 gum trees that were planted on the border of the school's field for firewood were felled. But because they were planted too close together, Ms Te Ua said the trees grew spindly and branches were blown off when it became windy.
