Wanganui Police are keen to hear from anyone who may have witnessed an alleged assault on a woman near Virginia Lake yesterday.
Sergeant Kevin Smith said the 22-year-old was allegedly assaulted on the footpath opposite the lake near Bristow St around 3pm. Mr Smith said the woman told police the two male assailants were dressed in black and both wore black caps.
Although not injured in the incident he said the woman was obviously distraught. Police patrols monitored all exists from the lake for but by early evening no one had been apprehended.
