A routine stop of a Holden Commodore on Saturday night in Somme Pde by the Ohakea traffic unit led to a police pursuit around Wanganui.
Acting sergeant Paul Miller took up the pursuit after the car failed to stop for the unit.
The car reached speeds ranging from 70-90 kms around Springvale. Once he reached the Fox/Mosston Rd intersection, the driver increased his speed to 90-100 km.
The police vehicle lost the car when he turned into Montgomery Rd. Mr Miller said he was not able to get close enough to the vehicle to read the number plate.

An 18-year-old woman walked away from her car after she wrapped it around a power pole in Alma Rd moments after being stopped and cautioned about her driving early on Sunday morning. She was taken to Wanganui Hospital and last night was in a stable condition.
Acting sergeant Paul Miller said he stopped the Ford Cortina in Jackson St at 2am and spoke to the woman about the way she drove around a corner.
Mr Miller said moments later and 50 metres past the Alma Rd/Carlton Ave intersection the woman lost control of the vehicle.
Her partner was also taken to hospital but became abusive. He was taken to the police station where he was charged with breach of the peace.
Blood samples were taken and investigations are continuing.
