Plenty of variety on display for Marton Lions Shed Tour

There was something for everyone at the Marton Lions Club Shed Tour on Saturday.

From a Spitfire and other vintage planes in a hangar at Ohakea Airbase to a goat milking farm, the tour included 15 diverse and interesting sheds.

Organiser Steve Carkeek said visitor numbers were steady and people were giving great feedback on the tour.

"There weren't quite as many as we hoped for but I think we raised a decent amount."

Proceeds from the tour will be donated to Palmerston North Rescue Helicopter and Carkeek said they have been the principal recipient of previous shed tours.

Other stops on the tour included furniture making, an amazing collection of shearing handpieces, an agricultural helicopter, vintage farm machinery, trucks, tractors and stationary engines.

There were also modern Mack trucks, a Hupmobile restoration in progress, a fabulous bottle collection, ceramics, watercolour paintings and steel sculptures.
