Evening Talk: Central America Wanderings

Ridgway Lythgoe talks about his trip last winter from Chichen Itza, near Cancun in Mexico, overland to Panama City and the Panama Canal. Seven countries, all tropical, corrupt and on the drug smuggling routes from Colombia to the US.
Time: 7.30pm at the Davis Theatre, Whanganui Regional Museum, Watt St. Adult $4, child $2. No booking necessary although numbers are limited to 200 attendees.
Rangitikei Heritage Houses

We revisit some of our favourite houses in the Rangitikei: Pembroke Vale, Maungaraupi (where we have our BYO picnic lunch in the garden) and Woodleigh Farm, the only Chapman Taylor-designed house in our region. Please note, we do not have access to all of the house interiors.

DIY Kaleidoscope Workshop
Wednesday, January 6
Celebrate summer and light at the Whanganui Regional Museum. Make your own kaleidoscope using recycled materials and decorate it with drawings of cultural and natural history objects from the museum collection. Appropriate for ages 7+.

Explore the Whanganui Regional Museum collection stores in a one-hour tour. Head behind the scenes to the natural history collection with the Curator of Natural History, Mike Dickison. Meet 1pm at the museum, Watt St. $5 per person.

Historical Walk: Tour of Duty
Thursday, January 7
Join military historian Kyle Dalton as he explores many of the monuments and memorials to those who have served in the military and those who have made the ultimate sacrifice in defence of our country.
This two-hour walk is suitable for all ages.
Depart 3pm from Whanganui i-SITE; return 5pm. Adult $4, child $2. Bookings at the i-SITE.
