One of Wanganui's most notable landmarks will probably remain off limits for at least another three months as a result of the June floods.
Kowhai Park, in Wanganui East, has been closed since the Whanganui River inundated parts of Anzac Pde, including the children's playground, on the weekend of June 20-21.
Wendy Bainbridge, Wanganui District Council senior parks officer, said every effort was being made to get the park open "as soon as we can".
"We've made great progress but we need more time to get the park cleaned up for our community and visitors to use," she said.
She said all the silt had to be cleared before new grass could be sown.
