Steelform Wanganui cruised past Poverty Bay 55-23 at Cooks Gardens yesterday to keep their hopes for a home Meads Cup semi-final alive.

Wanganui Collegiate first-five Stephen Perofeta showed his talents with three solo tries while Samu Kubunavanua's brace also contributed to the rout.

The win means Wanagnui remain in third with one round to go and need to beat Wairarapa Bush next Saturday while relying on leaders South Canterbury or second-placed Mid Canterbury to slip up if they are to get a home playoff.

For full coverage of yesterday's match see Monday's Wanganui Chronicle.
