Known for their annual community Christmas dinner, Christian Social Services Wanganui [CSSW] is next month holding a dinner with a difference.
The Midwinter Meal is a fundraiser for CSSW, and chairman Tim Campbell said he hopes it will be an annual event.
"Unlike our Christmas Day meal which is provided to those who might not otherwise be able to afford or share such a meal, the Midwinter Meal will be quite opposite. We will be charging for the privilege to attend and will quite unashamedly be trying to take as much money as we can from the attendees," Mr Campbell said.
As well as the meal there will be raffles and auctions. The guest speaker for the night will be the Anglican Bishop of Wellington, Justin Duckworth.
"[Mr Duckworth] has spent a great deal of his life on the streets of Wellington helping, advising, advocating, housing and feeding the needy and disadvantaged.
