After three consecutive clear tests, the boil water notice for the Patea Water Supply has been lifted.
Residents don't need to boil water anymore.
The South Taranaki District Council has been advised by the Taranaki District Health Board to continue chlorinating the water supply for the time being.
Residents will notice a difference in the taste and odour over the next week or two as the chlorine runs through the system.
Chilling the water in the fridge can reduce the taste of chlorine.
Bottled water will still be available from Patea LibraryPlus tomorrow between 9.30am and noon.
The council is continuing inspections of both reservoirs to try and identify where the problem occurred to prevent this from happening in the future.
A council spokesperson thanked residents for "your patience and understanding in this matter".
