Young Whanganui rowers were among the estimated 2000 competitiors at the Maadi Cup held at Lake Karapiro in Cambridge last week.
Teams from 127 New Zealand high schools competed in the championship event and two Wanganui Collegiate girls crews came home with silver medals.
Rowing in a competition like the Maadi Cup requires a lot of stamina and good fuel for the body is essential.
Providing that fuel in tents around the lakeside were support teams made up of parents and the Collegiate teams had a crew of around 40 giving them food along with moral support.
Angus Taylor's parents, Alix and Mark were coordinating the catering this year and Mr Taylor said the supplies were purchased from a local supermarket.
