Whanganui's Rachel Māia has qualified for her paraclimbing division's final at the IFSC world championships in Austria later tonight, New Zealand time.
The 35-year-old Māia, formally Carter, climbs without using her left leg, and made the Top 4 of the WRP2 grade at the event in Innsbruck, so those Para-athletes will climb again.
"Only the Top 4 in my category went through," Māia said.
"Thankfully, I fought hard and managed take a rare top to join the only three other athletes who 'Topped' in finals.
"This meant I just barely knocked a local Austrian athlete out of a spot in the finals."
