Those with a view on whether Wanganui should have an H - or not - can now have their say to the powers that be.
The consultation period for the possible name change was opened yesterday by the New Zealand Geographic Board (Nga Pou Taunaha o Aotearoa).
People have three months - until August 28 - to send the board their submissions on Wanganui District Council's proposal to change the name of the district to Whanganui.
If it proceeds, the change would allow the council to change its name to Whanganui District Council.
The proposal and supporting information - including results of the council's consultation with the community - were lodged on February 11.
