Whanganui police are going back to base for this year's police open day.
In recent years the open day has been held at the Whanganui River Traders Market but this year the Bell Street police station will host the event this Sunday, March 11.
The open day will run from 10am to 2pm with displays from various policing groups and tours of part of the police station.
"We want to give the public an opportunity to see what we do and some of the tools and gear that we have," Senior Sergeant Andrew McDonald said.
The public will get an insight into the workings of the armed offenders squad, the dog squad and the search and rescue team. And there will also be information on police recruitment with the force lookig to boost its numbers.
