New Whanganui shop Party King specialises in party supplies

Prepare to be blown away by the huge range of balloons available at Whanganui's new specialist party store.

Party King opened in Victoria Ave, between Guyton and Ingestre streets, in September.

"It's a one-stop shop for parties," team leader Joan Wong said.

"It can be a lot of hassle to get party items from the internet or having to go to lots of different places to get everything. Here people can see and touch what they are buying so they know exactly what they are getting.

"The bigger cities have specialist party shops and we saw a demand here for this type of thing."

There are more than 500 designs of foil balloons, although only about 150 are on display so far. There are 30 kinds of plain, numbered and patterned balloons and LED balloons that light up.

Hundreds of foil balloon designs are available.

As well as birthday party supplies, there are items for baby showers, gender reveal parties and weddings.

Baking accessories include cake boxes of different sizes and colours, cupcake boxes, baking ware, cake toppers, icing nozzles, a range of colours for icing and sprinkles.

The shop also stocks gifts, cards and gift wrap and Wong said more gift items would be added in the lead-up to Christmas.

"We've had good feedback from people who like finding this type of shop in Whanganui," Wong said.

"People are astonished by the number of balloons and the colour in the shop. If people can't find what they need for a party, we can help them."
