Public toilets will be up and flushing by summer in Mangaweka.
The Rangitikei District Council will be building the toilets just south of the iconic DC3 plane at Mangaweka.
The issue of public toilets in the area has come in response to Papa Cliff Cafe owner Sharon Grayson's written complaint to the council about non-paying people using the cafe toilets and rubbish facilities.
Grayson had written to the council saying that despite the ''huge cost'' to her business it would be inhuman and a bad look for Mangaweka if she turned away travellers who needed a pit stop on their journey.
Mayor Andy Watson said he had used the cafe's facilities himself, to go with a cup of coffee or a bite to eat.
