The installation of a little park on the corner of Victoria Ave and Guyton St is complete.
A little park, or parklet, is an outdoor structure with tables, benches and plants which can be used in downtown areas to encourage people to spend time together in the central city.
Whanganui District Council town centre regeneration project co-ordinator Ellen Waugh said the little park was part of a series of pieces of social infrastructure which would be created to help people feel welcome in the central business district.
"The idea behind the little park is to increase the vibrancy in our main street and hopefully inspire conversations and connections between people," she said.
"Little parks are relocatable, so we can look at moving it around. We have removed one car parking space to install the park as well as a bike rack, which will be replaced by a newer one."
