Whanganui's new district councillors have hit the ground running with all seven newcomers named to serve of a raft of second tier council committees, trusts and boards.
Mayor Hamish McDouall announced the appointments at the council's first full meeting this week.
David Bennett and Hadleigh Reid join deputy-mayor Jenny Duncan on the council's tenders' board, Kate Joblin, Murray Cleveland and Mr Reid will sit on the Tupoho working party and Graeme Young, Alan Taylor and Josh Chandulal-Mackay will be council faces on the Tamaupoko Link.
Mr Cleveland has been appointed as council's representative on the Manawatu-Whanganui Civil Defence emergency management group.
Mr Chandulal-Mackay will also sit on the resource recovery centre trust and he returns to his local body roots being named council representative on the youth committee which he served on while at secondary school.

he Mayor will be the council's delegate on Horizons Regional Council transport committee but has named Mr Young and Mr Chandulal-Mackay as his deputies.
