It's just over three months until the general election on September 23, and so far all the candidates for the Whanganui electorate are women.
This unusual situation has prompted the the National Council of Women to host a candidates' forum.
Harete Hipango is standing for National, Steph Lewis for Labour and Nicola Patrick for the Greens. The sitting MP, Chester Borrows, is stepping down at the election.
Margaret Campion, treasurer of the Whanganui branch of the National Council of Women, said having three female candidates from the major parties was almost certainly a first for Whanganui.
"I'd say it's an unusual situation in any seat," she said.
