Central District residents can expect to see two new red and orange police cars in their travels.
The district received two of their four new coloured patrol cars (two red and two orange) on Tuesday, which will join the rest of the regular marked Highway Patrol fleet.
The new cars were trialled during the "Safer Summer 2013/14" campaign, with the aim of increasing visibility and road safety awareness.
Officer in charge of Central District Highway Patrol, Senior Sergeant Kris Burbery said the coloured vehicles provided a powerful visual reminder of police presence on the roads and in communities, and generated public discussion of road safety issues.
"These new vehicles will be deployed in a tactical way within the district and motorists driving on our roads can expect to see them on a regular basis," Mr Burbery said.
