A stalwart of the motorcycling community - Marton's Bryan Davidson - will be farewelled on Saturday in Palmerston North.
Davidson, 56, died after his motorcycle and a car collided in Palmerston North on Tuesday.
Davidson was taken to hospital, but later died of his injuries police said.
Bryan and his wife Carmen, herself a former Motorcycling New Zealand Board Member, have made a huge contribution to motocross, dedicating many years to developing riders and club operations and improving the standard of competition, from grassroots to international level, Motorcycling New Zealand says.
A stalwart of the Manawatu-Orion Motorcycle Club, Davidson served as president, committee member, and was made a life member of the club in recognition of his service.
"Never afraid to push boundaries during his tenure as MNZ Motocross Commissioner, Bryan focused on the key challenges to be overcome and kept his eyes on the future to drive the sport to a whole new level," MNZ said.
