More than 6500 Whanganui homes are without power.

PowerCo has reported that power went off in College Estate, Whanganui at 11.54am today and is likely to be restored at 4pm today.

A site investigation is underway to determine the cause of the power cut.

There are 6571 properties that have been affected.
