PETROL HEADS: Checking under the bonnet at the weekend were Rob Jones and Ken McKenzie, just two of the Leyland P76 car owners in Whanganui for the New Zealand Leyland P76 Club annual meeting. It was the first time in a decade that Whanganui had hosted the event, and the cars toured the city on Saturday and then parked up in the Cosmopolitan Club car park so members of the public could get a close-up view. The get-together - with club members from as far away as Wanaka and Auckland - ended on Sunday with a drive through to Feilding. Released in 1973 with the slogan "anything but average" the car was only sold for two years before production ceased. It was assembled in New Zealand from 1974 to 1976. PHOTOS/STUART MUNRO
