It's a case of back to the future for Whanganui District Council with new mayor Hamish McDouall resurrecting a committee structure.
Previous mayor Annette Main disbanded to committees in December 2014 in favour of giving councillors specific portfolios. It wasn't a move with almost half the councillors opposed to it.
Now Mr McDouall has reversed that structure, bringing back three main committees - strategy and finance, property and community services and infrastructure and special projects.
And with the new arrangement the mayor has appointed chairs and deputy chairs for the committees.
Kate Joblin will lead strategy and finance with Murray Cleveland as deputy; Helen Craig chairs property and community services with Josh Chandulal-Mackay her deputy; and Alan Taylor will lead the infrastructure committee with Hadleigh Reid deputising.
