Clive Ward hopes that, in time, the Castlecliff Beach Market will bring people back to the suburb and put money into the community.
The market was trialled last year every few months at the Duncan Pavilion car park, but in its new incarnation on Castlecliff Domain the market will be held every Sunday afternoon.
Mr Ward is managing the market as part of Castlecliff Markets Ltd, an entity set up to run the event and distribute the money made from it to community groups.
It raises its funds from stallholders who pay for a spot. Only 10 per cent of that money and a maximum of $1000 can be held for the company for operational costs. "The other 90 per cent goes into the bank account for distribution," Mr Ward said. Stallholders keep their own profit.
"We've been trying to set this up since before Christmas but with all the t's to cross and the i's to dot it took time."
