Wanganui's youngest councillor and vocal "legal high" protester Jack Bullock says he won't quit his council seat after being arrested on a drugs charge.
Bullock, 23, was arrested and charged with possession of cannabis on Friday, one of 17 people arrested as part of Operation Valley. Others arrested face charges including the possession of methamphetamine for supply and cultivating and supplying cannabis.
Yesterday, Bullock told the Chronicle that he was willing to face the consequences of his actions.
However, he said those consequences would not include resigning from the district council, having been returned in the October election with 8667 votes, the second-highest-polling candidate.
"I'm not very proud of what's happened, but it's something I have to deal with and face up to," he said.
