A young man had to be wrestled out of the room by three police officers and a security guard after his bail application was declined in Whanganui District Court on Tuesday.
The man, on charges of wilful damage and breaching a protection order, was represented by defence lawyer Anna Brosnahan.
When Judge David Cameron reached his decision to decline bail, the man spat on to the floor and was dragged out of the courtroom, swearing at officers and yelling a homophobic slur.
He has not entered a plea yet to the charges, and will reappear on July 8.
Judge Cameron finished reading his decision for the bail application when the man was taken from the courtroom.
