A man has appeared in Whanganui District Court in relation to the knifepoint robbery of McDonald's on Victoria Ave last month.
Chase Whareaorere, 30, has been charged with aggravated robbery and court documents show he is accused of taking $2705 from the restaurant.
The Wanganui man was due to appear in court yesterday but was too aggressive to be brought into the dock and was remanded in custody to appear on August 11. He is yet to enter a plea.
The charge relates to just before 4am on June 23 when a man entered the restaurant carrying a bag, produced a knife and demanded money from a staff member before leaving in a waiting vehicle.
Whareaorere was arrested at a central business district property last Friday and charged with aggravated robbery. He first appeared in court the following morning and was remanded in custody. Further charges relating to the incident are likely. "In relation to that, we also found a large quantity of drugs which led to the arrest of another person," Detective Constable James Oxtoby said.
