Local lotto winner
Six Lotto players each won $166,667 through Lotto's first division on Saturday night and one of them was from Whanganui. The winning ticket was bought at Trafalgar Lotto, and the prize has not yet been claimed.
Woman faces charges
A woman appeared on 23 charges of taking, obtaining or using a document for pecuniary advantage in Whanganui District Court on Tuesday. Ngaire Gerrard was remanded in custody until July 30, when she will receive a sentence indication.
Shop vandal sought
Whanganui police have not yet tracked down a man they want to talk to in relation to wilful damage after two Guyton St shop windows were smashed on June 13. Police received several reports of a male acting aggressively and breaking bottles in Guyton St about 11pm that night. It is understood he had been at a bar in the area. A spokeswoman said inquiries were continuing.
Accused in court
Bodine Tui appeared in Whanganui District Court on two charges of aggravated robbery and a charge of driving while disqualified. He was remanded in custody until September 6.
Burglary charges
A Whanganui man appeared in Whanganui District Court on Tuesday on charges of burglary and shoplifting. Texas Evan Cuff has other charges outstanding and was remanded in custody until July 3, when he is expected to enter a plea.
