St John's Hill School celebrated their 87th birthday on Friday while holding their very own Olympics.
There were 16 countries competing as a survey of the roll revealed that is as the number of national backgrounds represented at the school.
Principal Michael Fitzgerald said classes were divided in to groups representing those countries and they marched onto the field wearing their costumes and waving their flags.
"We have been delighted by the support we have received from the Whanganui community," said Mr Fitzgerald.
"We released pigeons at the start of the ceremony and our own international athlete Phillipa Baker-Hogan came to open the games for us."
Mr Fitzgerald said he wished to thank Sport Whanganui for their support with organising the games and sending representatives along to help staff with marshalling the games.
