Wanganui artist Ross Mitchell-Anyon is in a critical condition in Wellington Hospital after he fell 12m from scaffolding last night.
The 61-year-old suffered a major head injury and was treated at the scene by St John paramedics before being transported by ambulance to Whanganui Hospital.
Mr Mitchell-Anyon's wife, Bobbi, told the Wanganui Chronicle he fell from interior scaffolding while working on the sprinkler system in the building, which is near the corner of Taupo Quay and Victoria Ave, next to City Mission. Two ambulances and a fire truck were called to the scene just before 5pm.
Mrs Mitchell-Anyon said her husband was transferred to Wellington Hospital in the early hours of the morning. She said doctors had not decided whether to operate on him or not.
"We're just hoping that things will come right. We're just all wanting to surround him with lots of positivity and hope that he'll be back troubling everybody again," Mrs Mitchell-Anyon said.
