Over 100 bowlers came together from around the lower North Island for a bit of a catch up and to raise some money for Whanganui junior rugby at the Laird Park Bowling Club over the weekend.
The club's annual fundraiser tournament attracted 26 teams of four bowlers, vying for either the A Flight or B Flight titles after qualifying on Saturday and post section on Sunday.
Proceeds for the event, which club president Judy Titter estimated has been going for around 30 years, will go to the Wanganui Pirates Rugby Football Club's juniors, after the Marton and Taihape juniors were joint recipients last year.
"It was a community effort, it was a good day," said Titter.
Despite the overnight rain on Saturday, tournament volunteers from the Durie Hill Bowls Club were out early on Sunday with the squeegee mops to remove the surface water, with the sunshine taking care of the rest.
