Little graduates at Kōhanga Reo o Te Hunga Kawitiwiti in Whanganui demonstrated their fluency in Maori Language as they presented the nativity play to proud whanau on Friday.
Amber Tapa Edward, playing Mary, was able to deliver her lines while waving to the audience.
"This is the only occasion of year that we speak English at Te Hunga Kawitiwiti," said head kaiako Rene Pirikahu.
"We are a total immersion kohanga and the children graduating will be going to kura kaupapa."
Children sang Silent Night and The Twelve Days of Christmas in te reo at the end of the play before receiving their graduation taonga of individually chosen backpacks filled with goodies for the next stage of their education.
