A hunting competition for kids is set to attract hundreds of entrants to Whanganui this month.
Wilsons Hunting and Outdoors has taken over an event run by Aaron McCain of Ohingaiti who after seven years has decided not to run it again due to family commitments.
"We thought we'd grab the bull by the horns and run with it," organiser Ken Wilson said.
Hunting can take place at "any legal hunting spot" anywhere throughout the country, but weigh-in day takes place at Landguard's Bluff on Sunday April 23, between 11am-2pm.
Mr Wilson has booked cabins at army camp Landguard's Bluff, Airport Road, for hunters and their guardians to camp if they need accomodation.
