The closest Prime Minister John Key has got to Wanganui in this election year may have been his visit to Ratana Pa and Huntley School in January.
His National Party colleague and sitting MP Chester Borrows said that was because the Whanganui electorate wasn't viewed as a swing seat.
"I think this is seen as reasonably secure," he said.
The Chronicle photographic archive has lots of photographs of Mr Key when he held a National conference here in May 2013, and he has been in both Palmerston North and New Plymouth in the lead-up to this election. Last election he was photographed in Majestic Square.
Mr Borrows had 10 local supporters, led by campaign manager Helen Craig, out on the National bus yesterday. When the bus passed the election signs opposite Georgetti Road, they said the National sign was vandalised and replaced nearly every day.
