It's a salivating prospect - husband versus wife in a head-to-head street race with bragging rights on the line.
"She'll probably win, she has the fastest car," says Tristan Teki, Whanganui motoring icon and co-organiser of this year's Wanganui Road Rodders 31st Street Drags.
"Sounds like he's making excuses already," says Joanne Teki, wife and first-time drag racer.
The couple are set to go head-to-head on Sunday March 5 alongside 80 other entrants at the annual event to be held on Taupo Quay from 10am - 3pm.
Joanne is driving the couple's new arrival - a 1966 Impala with a whopping 540 big block Chevrolet engine pumping out 840 horse power, or over 1000hp on nitrous oxide fuel.
