A firefighter was taken to hospital after a piece of glass entered her eye during a training exercise in Ohakune yesterday.
She was taking part in a vehicle extraction training exercise when she suffered what was described as a "minor eye injury".
"The firefighter was wearing full protective gear, including mask and goggles, when the vehicle's windscreen shattered and a small piece of glass has entered her eye," Whanganui Fire Service area commander Bernie Rush said.
"The firefighter has been taken to Whanganui Hospital as a precaution and an investigation will be conducted, as is standard Fire Service practice for workplace injuries or near misses."
