Hundreds of nurses and other hospital staff in Whanganui will likely be on strike tomorrow after they rejected the latest pay offer from the district health boards.
The strike would begin at 7am tomorrow and run for 24 hours until Friday morning.
Nurses were on the verge of striking last week but pulled out after the DHBs put in a fourth pay offer which had to be assessed and voted on.
That offer, which was recommended to its members by the New Zealand Nurses Organisation (NZNO), was rejected by a majority in an online vote.
District health boards say they are vowing to do everything they can to avoid the strike, which is now fast approaching.
