Bep and Arlo Mooij (front centre) celebrate their win with Hospice Whanganui's Sandy McDougall (left) and Carla McKinnon (rear) and Mike O'Malley of House of Travel Wanganui.

Whanganui's Bep Mooij bought two $10 raffle tickets to show support for Hospice Whanganui and was overwhelmed to win a trip for two to Fiji.

"It's very exciting, I can't believe it," Mrs Mooij said.

"When I bought the tickets, the woman selling them said, 'I hope you win.' I said I didn't expect to win, I just wanted to support Hospice because it's such a wonderful organisation."

She and husband, Arlo, will fly Air New Zealand to Fiji to spend five nights in an oceanside room at the five-star Sofitel Fiji Resort & Spa, a package with a value of $4500.

"Hospice Whanganui is certainly thrilled that it was someone local who won," said operations manager Sandy McDougall.

"The response from the public to support this raffle was overwhelming; 870 of the 1000 tickets were sold, giving a fabulous financial boost to Hospice Whanganui."

Ms McDougall thanked House of Travel and their suppliers Air New Zealand and Sofitel Fiji Resort & Spa for providing the prize package.
